History and Purpose
The Liver Institute has been founded for the purpose of studying and treating of liver disease, improving of health care, preventing of liver disease and transplanting of chronic liver disease at the Gosepl Hoapital of Medical College of Kosin University on Dec. 1, 1995.
The Gosepl Hospital of Medical College of Kosin University was started by the Gospel Clinic opened in Namhangdong, Pusan by Dr. Chang Kee Ryo on Jun. 21, 1951. This Clinic was developed to the Kosin Hospital on May 28, 1957.
Dr. Chang was a great surgeon performed a successful liver resection in Feb, 1959. And he continuously helped the poor.
On the basis of the above, the institue will perform a basic and clinical research activities to combat liver diseases and promote physical physical fitness and health care of the nation. The institute also carries out the exchange of medical informations with foreign countries and supports the education of medical researchers
