::Transplantation Team

Since 1984 until 1997, 394 cases of renal transplantation were performed by our transplant team. There has been more than a 90% transplant patient survival rate and a 90% graft 1-year survival rate. These rates are comparable with the results of western centers. Fifty three cases of cornea transplantation were performed. The first liver transplantation from a cadaver donor was done is 1997 successfully. The incidence of transplantation using organs from brain dead donors will be increased because of the nationwide growing interest regarding brain death and organ donation.

::Hospice Team

The hospice team includes a medical doctor, nurses, pastor, social worker, and a volunteer. It was established in 1992 and to date 300 terminally ill patients have been cared for by inpatient and home visiting hospice. The fifth annual training and education workshop for volunteers was held in Oct. 1996.
