The Medical Library is located in the Gospel Hospital building. It has open stacks and 7221 volumes. There are information retrieval services and a copying room ( currently containing a good quality copying machine which provides enlarged and reduced size copies).

Text and Monographs : As of 1997, there were 7221 volumes of medical texts, monographs and reference books. Books are classified according to the NLMC (National Library of Medicine Classification). Author, title and subject catalogue provide easy information and are arranged in English and Korean alphabetical order.
Medical Periodicals : Bound English journals(1406 publication), Korean journals(180 publications), Japaness journals(10 publications) are arranged in the Korean and English alphabetical order.
Information Retrieval Servies : MEDICAL CD-ROM (1986-current) is a unified database of the biomedical bibliographies of the National Library of Medicine, U.S.A. it incorporates all indexed to Medical, Indexes to Dental literature, and an international Nursing Index. There cover the following major categories : research practice, clinical practice, administration. Policy issues, health care services, dental research, and nursing information. It includes adout 4,000 titles and chooses articles from them, including bibliographies and abstracts, etc. Our library has CD-NET(12 sheets) and three computers for searches. Users can print or save references.
Interlibrary Loan System : The medical library has joined the interlibrary loan system, and exchanges information with other libraries at home and abroad. The references which are not available in Korea can be received from the Japan Medical Library Association or BLDSC(British Library Document Supply Center). All requested references can be air mail. Users can request the copied article which are not library bringing detail bibliographies and a telephone number to the reading room.
Donations
Gifts of books, journals and historical materials, and donations of funds for the books and for equipment for the audiovisual education section are very welcome. |
